Fieldturf faqs
Here you'll find some of the most common questions we get about FieldTurf and artificial turf. If you are unable to have your questions answered below, please contact us and one of our team members will help.
Is your turf manufactured in the USA?
Yes! All our turf is manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility located in Calhoun, Georgia.
How popular is artificial turf for landscape and recreation use?
Artificial turf for landscape, playgrounds, bocce ball and other landscape applications is the fastest growing segment of the synthetic turf market.
What is your synthetic turf made of?
Our synthetic turf is made of three components:
Polyethylene Fibers: UV stabilized fibers designed for various applications.
Primary Backing: an interwoven multi-layered backing designed to keep the fibers in place and provide dimensional stability.
Secondary Backing: think of the secondary backing as a coating, or a glue, that adheres the fibers to the primary backing. All of our turfs use a proprietary coating – AquaFlow – made with our proprietary Polyurethane that allows for 100% permeable and non-absorbent backing.
What is AquaFlow?
FieldTurf’s synthetic turf has a proprietary 100% permeable and non-absorbent secondary backing. It drains 10 times faster than real grass and better than any other synthetic turf surface available. Other turf backings can’t effectively drain, quickly leading to odor and bacteria buildup. Only FieldTurf has a synthetic turf product with a 100% porous and 100% permeable backing.
AquaFlow makes cleanup a snap.
Do your products offer storm water management?
We are one of the few companies that have turf products that keep water off sidewalks and out of storm drains allowing for percolation into natural soils and aquifers. You might of guessed it but this is made possible with AquaFlow!
How do I choose the right artificial turf?
As the market leader, we have installed turf for a wide range of applications and sizes; playgrounds, multi-purpose fields, pet facilities, military and governmental facilities, driving rages and indoor agility spaces.
That being said, artificial grass comes in many colors, heights, shapes and sizes. Let us help you determine and specify the best turf product for your project.
Do you use rubber infill in your turf?
No! All of our turfs use silica sand, coated sand or organic infills, such as granulated cork or granulated olive cores. Let us determine the right infill for your project.
Is your turf safe for children?
Yes! All of our fibers are tested by third party independent laboratories for more than 20 different heavy metals like arsenic and lead.
We make sure that all our turfs meet stringent requirements, such as EN-71- 3 (Part 3) Toy Testing standards, before installation.
Do you have turf that complies with ADA/Wheelchair Accessibility (ASTM F 1951) standards?
Yes we do! As a world class manufacturer, we take pride in not only manufacturing high-quality turf but we also make sure that everyone has the opportunity to play on it! Ask us about our ADA-certified turf systems.
Does it smell if my pet pees on it?
Animal urine can cause unpleasant odors due to factors such as lack of routine maintenance, size of the dog, conditions in the ventilation and size of the yard. Rinsing is recommended to help minimize potential odors and keep your pet-friendly turf clean.
Ask us about our Play-Duo turf systems that are designed with our AquaFlow backing, allowing effortless cleanup of liquid or solid.
Do you offer a warranty?
We stand behind all our products with the best warranty in the industry! We offer piece of mind whether our turf has been installed for one or eight years.
What is face weight?
Face weight is how many ounce of yarn/fiber per square yard are found in a turf product.
What is pile height?
Pile height is simply the length of the artificial turf blades. Generally speaking, depending on the application, turf heights vary from 0.5” to 2.5”. For example, putting green turfs are between 0.5” to 1” in height, whereas, playground turfs can range from 1” to 2.5” in height.
